Simon Rosenberg (NDN) claims Emanuel & Schumer led victory

Just a few minutes ago on the Alex Bennett show (Sirius 146) Simon Rosenberg of the NDN (which he says now doesn't not mean anything, like KFC) claimed that Rahm Emanuel and Chuck Schumer were the parties responsible for the overwhelming performance of Democrats, including the vast number of candidates running.

Of course, this is patently false.  Without the push of Howard Dean and the netroots to pursue the 50-State Strategy, these men and their campaign committees would have continued the losing strategy of pursuing just a few 'critical' seats, underfunding 'unimportant' races at federal and state levels, and basically trying to not rock the boat and upset the GOP majority by letting the GOP control the message, control the election and most likely continue to control the Congress.

You can call the Alex Bennett show:  866-997-4748

I'm disgusted (but entirely unsurprised) that the 'gentlemen' who would have likely pursued the fewest candidates and the slimmest margins of victory then wondered why we couldn't win those critical 'moderate voters,' now claim that they invented and funded the 50-State Strategy.

This lie must not go unanswered.  It most not become the CW, the 'mythology' of OUR victory.

Let's get Howard Dean out there:  Let get him interviewed, lets get it up on YouTube.  Get him on the Daily Show and/or Colbert Report.  He needs to be lauded for his vision and committment, and he needs to be out there to continue to inspire the masses to join the fight!

Agreed (3.00 / 1)

THese idiots are clueless. Why don't they be inclusive? Someone like Webb won not because of the netroots. Not because of the establishment. He won because he stated his views without marginalising one segment in the dem party. He did not follow the classic DLC formula.

This is why I wanted Lieberman to lose. Now they are spinning that one fluke convergence of circumstances in a weird year in a single state as an indictment of the netroots. So can we dismiss Rahm and Obama based on Ford's loss after he was tied in the polls a few days ago despite an ad by his  opponent which was condemned by many? Would a netroots candidate do any better than Ford? Probably not. And would the dem party have done better if people like Lamont and Webb not have made it safe to bash the Iraq war and run on that as one of their main issues? Did it hurt a conservative like Murtha to run on that classic netroots talking point as one of his main issues?

Wasn't Dean's 50 State Strategy wise when you consider Foley's dropping out in the last minute gave the dems a victory in a safe republican area?

Re: Simon Rosenberg (NDN) claims (none / 0)

Here's a good campaign summary delivered by Dean on C-Span
Also includes some review by Cornell Belcher, pollster for DNC

Who gives a shit (3.00 / 1)

whose victory it is?  Netroots, DCCC, DSCC, we all worked together for this.  Let's celebrate and not start killing each other yet!

Re: Who gives a shit (none / 0)

And that is our point. We do not want to see individuals like Rahm hogging the credit when this victory was about more than one man or one strategy.
